Welcome to my free inquiry topic

I am marwo Abdi. I was born in Somalia and grew up in a refugee camp in Kenya. I received my primary and secondary education in the refugee camp and then won a prestigious scholarship to study at the University of Victoria. I have a degree in sociology from the University of Victoria that taught me a lot about society and how it works.

While in the refugee camp, I also had the opportunity to work as a teacher teaching elementary and middle school-aged children. Completing University, I worked with various nonprofit organizations supporting youth and children.

I took some time to think about a  topic for my inquiry and had to change topics but finally decided to use assessment as a teaching tool. The inquiry will allow me to understand more about assessment and collect resources and strategies that I could use during my practicum and teaching.

I did not know much about assessment and how it can improve learning for students until my course on assessment and evaluation. My experience with the assessment was entirely different from how it was presented in this course. I was used to evaluation and assessment that is often tied to how well students perform and grades. So I am excited to dip more and learn assessment tools and gather some significant collections of assessment resources.
