Understanding assessment and utilizing it to enhance effective instruction and learning requires assessment literacy. Suppose, as teachers; we have the proper assessment literacy. In that case, we can use assessment to build meaningful relationships with students and build an inclusive, supportive, safe learning environment for students to take risks, learn and feel empowered to be responsible for the learning.

Having assessment literacy means rethinking and reevaluating assessment to determine how the assessment was done in the past. The shift that needs to happen and what assessment is, and the best assessment practices teachers can utilize to support students learning and, from the instruction, understand the change in how we know assessment. assessment sits at the centre of our experiences
